Boss Cat is a Bus Stop Films production in association with WeirAnderson Films. Major production investment from Screen Australia in association with Screen NSW and WeirAnderson Films. Madman Entertainment is distributing in Australia and New Zealand. Developed with assistance of Screen Australia and Screen NSW and WeirAnderson Films.
Boss Cat is more than a beautiful film, it is a case study in inclusive employment.
Funded by the Australian Government's Department of Social Services through a Building Employer Confidence grant, the Inclusive Crewing Project supported Boss Cat’s inclusion behind the camera.
Bus Stop Films employed more than 10 people with disabilities across 21 days of filming in key crew departments including camera, production, hair and makeup, sound, lighting, directing and editing and many more on screen. Making this the largest crew attachment program for people with disability on a long-form film ever delivered in Australia.
Bus Stop Films brought together their inclusive filmmaking practices and principles to support these crew members, underpinned by dedicated Candidate Placement Coordinators and on-set support workers through their dedicated employment service, Bus Stop Employment.
Boss Cat is a true case study in the value of inclusive employment and meaningful career pathways for people from the d/Deaf, Disabled and Neurodiverse community.
